A Senate panel has passed a bill to address a Maryland court ruling that determined pit bulls are "inherently dangerous."
The Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee passed the bill on Thursday, the first day of a special session in Annapolis.
The bill now goes to the full Senate for consideration. The Maryland Court of Appeals ruling in April singled out pit bulls as a dangerous breed, making owners liable for first bites.
